First Aid for Kids - Prevention & Treatment NEW OFFERING!
In First Aid for Kids, students will learn how to stay calm and take control in the face of a minor injury. Students will unpack the provided mini first aid kit and figure out how best to use their supplies. Age-appropriate discussions, stories and demos will include treatment of cuts, burns, nose bleeds, bee stings, tick bites, bumps, bruises, indoor/outdoor hazards, and plenty of prevention. Participants will practice wrapping with an ice bandage and using an epi-pen and much more.

Babysitter Safety Training
When parents entrust their most treasured gifts to a babysitter, they will feel more secure and be more likely to hire someone who has taken Babysitter Safety Training. Babysitters who are trained in safety will have more confidence in dealing with the challenges that may face them while caring for children of all ages and stages. While the focus of this training is safety first, emphasis is also placed on responsibility, practical knowledge of childcare, and developing a positive attitude when caring for children. Please bring a stuffed animal or doll.

Home Alone Staying Safe
This class will prepare kids to handle most home alone situations, from an unexpected knock on the door to an emergency 911 phone call. It also covers food/kitchen safety, choking prevention and Heimlich Maneuverer, basic first aid, handling emergencies, handling fears, safety to and from school, basic street smarts and lots of prevention!

Babysitter Food Allergy Training NEW OFFERING!
This is an advanced class for those who have previously completed Babysitter Safety Training or equivalent. This class was born from a need in the food allergy community for babysitters who understand food allergies. Using fun and interactive activities, your child will learn food allergy facts, the nuances of cross-contact and how to identify potential risks, and how to administer an epinephrine auto-injector ("epi-pen").

Who is South Shore Safety?
Bette Antonellis, L.P.N., CTTS-M Co-Founder, Instructor
As a co-founder of South Shore Safety, Bette is a dedicated health educator with a passion for teaching all aspects of child safety. With a wealth of knowledge from her experience as a licensed practical nurse and master certified tobacco treatment specialist, she specializes in safety programs for children, as well as helping teens and adults quit all forms of tobacco, including vaping.
Denise Valentine Laiosa, C.S.N. Co-Founder, Instructor
As a co-founder of South Shore Safety, and owner of South Shore Karate, LLC, Denise has found a way to combine her experience in health care with her love of martial arts. At South Shore Safety, she draws on her twenty years of experience as karate instructor and a sixth-degree black belt to teach personal safety techniques and awareness in our classes in a variety of at schools, medical and corporate settings, recreation centers, shelters, and more.
