Cohasset Recreation Summer Playground Extras
Your child MUST be registered for the Summer Playground Program to participate in the Extras. Before enrolling your child, please see what color group they are in. Remember, only sign up for extras for the sessions your child is in! For example, if your child is in session 1, do not sign up for session 2 extras.
The Different Program Details:
Deer Hill School - 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
Going into Kindergarten = High 5's
Sohier Street - 9:00-3:00 p.m.
Going into 1st Grade = BLUE GROUP
Deer Hill Groups - 9:00-3:00 p.m.
Going into 2nd Grade = PURPLE GROUP
Going into 3rd Grade = YELLOW GROUP
Going into 4th Grade = GREEN GROUP
Going into 5th Grade = RED GROUP

After Rec (3:00–6:00 p.m.) program extended hours
Registration opens June 1st -The after-school program is for the Full Day Blue and Deer Hill groups and will run every afternoon except the last Friday of the program. Depending on the weather, we utilize the swim center daily and require an additional "swim" registration for liability and approval.
Cohasset Recreation Dedicated Swim Lessons
We have dedicated swim lessons for the Deer Hill and Blue Group programs. Twelve lessons are scheduled for each three-week session, typically Monday through Thursday. The Deer Hill groups are either 8:45 or 9:00 am; thus, you drop off at the swim center, check in with a staff person, and we walk the kids back at 9:30. We have two dedicated blue group lessons to choose from at 11:00 or 11:30. See the Cohasset Swim Center or provided pre-requisites in our links to see what lesson to sign up for.
Cohasset Recreation Afternoon Swim Time 1-2 pm
Tuesday for the Purple (grade 1) group, Wednesday for the Blue (kindergarten) group, and Thursday for the Yellow (grade 2), Green (grade 3), and Red (grade 4) Groups. Due to liability reasons, pre-registration (for members or non-members) is required for all children who attend our program and want to go for an afternoon swim.
Youth Tennis and Pickleball – A dedicated time for our Deer Hill program participants at 9-10 am. The classes run Monday-Thursday for tennis/pickleball with rain makeup on Fridays. Each morning, children should be dropped off and checked in at the tennis court with a staff member. After class, the kids will be walked back to Deer Hill. The fee is $99 for a three-week session. Please note that if you sign up for these lessons, it will conflict with the Deer Hill swim lessons.
Field Trips
Session 1 - July 10th – Blue group to Scituate Movies. Deer Hill groups: purple group to Boston Bowl, Yellow group to Star Land, Green and Red group to Nova Trampoline Park.
Session 2 - July 31st – Blue group to Scituate Movies. Deer Hill groups: Purple Group to Nova Trampoline Park, Yellow group to Boston Bowl, Green and Red Group to Star Land.
PLEASE NOTE: All staff attend the field trips, so there is no program for children who do not attend the field trips. The fees for the field trips are listed on the site.
Registration is required by June 19 – Very Important deadline!
Cohasset Swim Center Swim and Dive Teams -
If your child makes the 8-9 AM 10 and under or 9-10 AM Eight and under swim team or dive teams, please sign up for team pick-ups on our site. We will walk the kids up at 9 and 10 am respectively (dive team has different times).
Summer School and/or ESY
If your child is planning to attend summer school or ESY and you have been notified, please register on our ‘extra’s link so we know when to pick up or drop off for that program.
Afternoon Swim
- Groups are assigned a day to attend the pool for extra swim - must be registered.
- These are not lessons
- Purple Group Present 1 - Tuesdays
- Blue Group Present K - Wednesday
- Yellow, Green, Red Group Present 2-4 Thursdays

Field Trips
- Children must register and make payment in order to attend the field trips. Do not wait to register it will fill quickly. Any children not attending Field trips will NOT have camp on that day.

Swim/Dive Team - Whole Season Supervised Walks
If your child makes the Swim/Dive Team - Kids will be walked back from the Swim Center with Cohasset Rec staff for their designated time. Parents are responsible for dropping swimmers off 8 am and 9 am. Please check in with our staff person in the big parking lot.

WALK to Summer School
To register below, you must be enrolled in summer school.
Sorry, transportation of any Blue Group (K going into 1st) children (from our office) is not available for summer school or Dykas Sports, and is the responsibility of a parent.
If your child is enrolled in Summer School, please register here, and they will be brought to and from Summer School during program hours. If your child is in both of our sessions, please register for both sessions below. Drop-offs before 9 am and pick-ups after 3 pm are the responsibility of a parent.

Tennis and Pickleball Lessons
- Present 1-4
- Tennis/Pickleball - Mon-Thurs. (First week Mon, Wed. Thur. Fri)
- Kids should be dropped off at the Courts on their days, Rec Counselors will bring them back after lessons
- Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country. Participants will practice the beginning basics of Pickleball skill. Rules and scoring will be learned. Drilling and proper technique will be stressed. All equipment will be supplied. Parents will have the opportunity to join their child in Pickleball play the last week of the class.
